WordPress vs Shopify vs Squarespace vs Wix: which should you choose?

There is no single best website platform. The right choice depends on what you sell, how much control you want and who will run the site day to day.
WordPress
The most flexible option. With WooCommerce it becomes a full online store, and you can build almost any feature you need.
- Choose it if: you want full ownership, lots of content or custom features.
- Keep in mind: you manage hosting, updates and backups, or pay someone to.
Shopify
Built for ecommerce. Payments, checkout, inventory and shipping work out of the box, and hosting is included.
- Choose it if: selling products is the main goal and you want to launch quickly.
- Keep in mind: monthly fees and app costs add up as you grow.
Squarespace
Known for polished design. Easy to update without technical skills, with built-in hosting and simple commerce.
- Choose it if: you are a service business, portfolio or small shop that values looks and simplicity.
- Keep in mind: less flexible for complex stores.
Wix
Drag-and-drop editing and lots of built-in tools for bookings, events and simple stores.
- Choose it if: you need a site live quickly and want to edit it yourself.
- Keep in mind: harder to move away from later, and less suited to large catalogues.
